Daily UI Challenge
14 days of prompts from ChallengeUI
Day 1 - Email Receipt
Email receipt for a large candy order. Because this is coming from a fun candy company, I used a playful rounded typeface (Domus), a lot of round/rounded shapes, and a fun shade of pink.
Inspiration for content came from a game I used to play as a kid with my best friend - we ordered a lot of (pretend) candy.
Note: photos are not my own, I sourced them from Pexels
Day 2 - App Icon
Explored a couple of app icons for a fictional dice app. These don't contrast enough to be realistic options, but it was fun to try my hand at neumorphism for the first time!
And then I explored some with black and white contrast
Day 3 - Profile Page
Decided to do a profile page for a non-human, and ended up doing a concept for a plant-shuffling app. Learn about plants in your downtime by shuffling through randomly generated plants. Swipe up to focus in on a particular plant and get more information.
Day 4 - Pop-Up
Going off some inspiration I had while writing, I ended up creating a memory & time-travel concept for this challenge.
This app would be theoretically able to search your memories and help you travel back in time to visit them. The popup appears once you’ve selected a memory to revisit.
It's heavily photography-based because I have always wanted to be able to "jump" into a photo.
All photos shown are my own.
Day 5 - Loading
Based on climbing walls
Day 6 - Dropdown
I wanted to challenge myself to create a user settings dropdown without a down-chevron. This element exists in isolation but might work in mobile or desktop floating/minimal navigation concepts
Day 7 - WIP Self-Care App
This is WIP as part of a larger app concept that I'm working on, but I'm posting it as my #day7of the #dailyUIChallenge.
No specific prompt today but I am working towards an app that uses gamification to encourage positive self-care behaviors and improve well-being for folks in self-isolation due to COVID-19.
There's one plant for each "pillar" of well-being and you can take care of each plant by feeding it with self-care actions you log at the end of each day. Those actions will be general recommendations tailored for people based on their onboarding/profile answers. It will also provide resources for some of those actions (like connecting you to online workout sessions).
Coming soon: more refined mocks, onboarding workflow, resource recommendation workflows, goal creation workflows, possibly branding?
Day 8 - On/Off Switch
Day 9 - Onboarding
Onboarding should provide the app with some information to provide customized suggestions of self-care (i.e. we wouldn't want to suggest taking medications to someone not taking medications) and keep the person engaged and invested within the first few screens.
Selecting plant type and then naming the plant should provide some emotional connection and up the incentive to want to take care of it.
And finally, the last screens before you get placed into the game is a quick explainer of how to play it. In this case, how to take care of the plant.
Each self-care section would trigger a new onboarding flow as you select it. By breaking it up into smaller chunks of onboarding, we are less likely to overwhelm the user and/or lose their interest.
Day 10 - 404 page
Day 11 - Hover State
This one doesn’t REALLY count as an interface but it was the inspiration that came to mind when I saw “hover state”
Day 12 - Single Product
Decided to tackle a quick product page for a guitar. I sourced the guitar information from Gretsch Guitars but separated the product title and descriptors for better legibility.

Day 13: Giveaway
When the only gift you can afford to give your mom for mother's day is a coupon for a free hug, but there's a global pandemic
Day 14 - Item Card
